Anderson Zambrano-Pacheco, a 25-year-old ringleader of the violent Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, was arrested during deportation raids in New York City, law enforcement sources reported Tuesday.

The early morning operation involved DEA agents and Homeland Security officers who raided an apartment building on Ogden Avenue in the Bronx, according to officials.

Zambrano-Pacheco was wanted in connection with a high-profile break-in in Aurora, Colorado, which had been captured on video and widely shared online. The arrest is part of a broader crackdown on illegal immigrants linked to criminal activities, following directives from the Trump administration's recent immigration policies.

Trump’s new Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem joined immigration raids in NYC this morning, and shared footage of a “criminal alien with kidnapping, assault & burglary charges” being dragged out of an apartment building.

“Dirtbags like this will continue to be removed from our streets,” Noem wrote in the X post.

This action comes amidst a series of ICE-led operations across the U.S., targeting members of Tren de Aragua, known for its origins in a Venezuelan prison and its expansion into various criminal enterprises.

The raids in NYC add to the hundreds of arrests made nationwide, focusing on individuals with criminal records or known affiliations with this gang.

Border Patrol exchanges gunfire with cartel while trying to stop migrant crossings

U.S. Border Patrol agents faced gunfire from Mexican cartel members Monday while attempting to prevent a group of illegal aliens from crossing the Rio Grande into Texas, according to multiple law enforcement sources.

The incident unfolded near Fronton, a small town along the Texas-Mexico border, where Border Patrol agents were on routine surveillance. 

“Earlier today, @TxDPS responded to assist the US Border Patrol after agents received gunfire from cartel members in Mexico while patrolling in Fronton, Starr County.” Texas DPS Spokesman Lt. Chris Olivarez posted to X.

No injuries were reported among the U.S. agents, who returned fire, effectively stopping the migrants from reaching U.S. soil.

The exchange of gunfire highlights the ongoing tension and danger faced by Border Patrol agents along the U.S.-Mexico border. The area around Fronton has been known for its dense vegetation, providing cover for smuggling operations by cartels. Local law enforcement and other federal agencies were notified, and an investigation into the incident is ongoing. The U.S. Customs and Border Protection has yet to release an official statement, as the situation remains fluid.
